BT - Activation Day

[link to this post]

Hi all!

Im not completely clueless as far as Broadband, Routers, PCs etc are concerned..

Today is my activation day - and I received a text from BT stating that my broadband is now active.

However, I am using a D-Link router, and the connection is VERY unstable... its dropping every few seconds - it simply will not stay connected. Downloads are impossible (1kbps, which them times out).

Then, I decided to try the connection on a DSL modem - just incase.

The modem reported 11 line errors on received data

My questions is:

Do you think the work has not yet been completed on the line yet? and when I get home from work tonight it should be fine?

I have tried swapping filters etc - to no avail.

Thanks
Nathan

have you got all devices filtered and filtered correctly (ie, not filtered twice etc?)

are you plugging your router into the master socket? if not, try that. if so, if you have a master socket with a removable bottom half, unscrew it and gently lift it out and connect the filter into the test socket on the right hand side and see if that improves things. if it does, something inside your house is interfering badly with the signal. if not then it might be something external.

also, does you router provide any sort of line status statistics like attenuation and SNR margins? if so, please post them
