BT TOTAL BB QUESTIONS - HELP !

Please can someone help me !! I am totally confused

I have been in contact with the BT Total BB tech dept to enquire about upgrading to the Total BB package and what I would need.
I was put through to a call cantre in India (as usual), now I don't have any problem with this but in this instance I could not understand what the man was saying - his accent was very broad !

So I am still none the wiser ... then I thought about this forum and thought I would pick the brains of the learned folk on here

I have 4 desktop pc's with ethernet network cards which are connected to my router; if I was to have the wireless hub which comes with the BT Total BB package do I need to purchase wireless cards for all the pc's ??

If so then how much am I looking at ?

Second question: Do I have to have the pc's wirelessly connected or do I have the option of wired connection like I have now ?

If so how many pc's can I connect via cable to the BT home hub ? Also would they be via serial or usb ?

I would appreciate help with this ... I want to make sure what I require before going again and signing up.

hub will carry 4 wired connections 2 ethernet and 2 USB, if you want to go wirless then unless your computers are allready wirless enabled then yes each would need a card either internal pci or external usb, as to costs for these cards well different cards cost different amounts i belive bt is flogging the voyager 1055 for

What you can connect two via ethernet and one via USB. Thats IT. Nothing more.

As for doing it ALL wireless, my hub and the rest of the hubs which I have crash when I use one wireless client let alone 4.

Paul, I don't think I am going to bother with Total BB at all ! It sounds like you are having real problems !

Well the home hub can only have 2 ethernet ports strangely enough as that's all the CPU can take.

I called up yesterday about BRAS profile, got a call today about traffic shaping.

Just plug your existing router into the BT Hub if you want to use the wireless and voip features and retain the 4 wired network. Or just use your existing router and sell the hub on ebay if you don't

If you're after a wired connection for 4 ethernet-wired computers, the Voyager 2110 will do the trick. Or my 2100 if you can get one. And they will connect via wireless too.

Yes I was using the 2100 before the Hub and it was a nice router but I then had to run it via a 220v for the Broadband Talk. So I now just use the Hub and save electricity.

Can you tell me if there is anything stopping me using my own router which I have now ? Obviously if I want wireless connection then I'd have to use the home hub and get wireless cards for my pc's .... but if I just want the 8MB speed and am happy with a hard wire connection then would it work ok ?

Sorry to sound dumb but I am a little green when it comes to these things !

The router I have now connects all of pc's ... so I would be happy with the 8MB speed and the fact that I'll be paying less than I am now.
