Thanks to Paul, I have replaced the latest firmware (6.2.2.6) on my Hub with the last version (6.1.1.M).
This has allowed me to once again use DMT to tweak my SNR to get an immediate and significant increase in sync speed.
I took Paul's advice and used the CLI to enter a dummy "Upgrade server."
Does this definitely stop the Hub from automatically upgrading to the pitiful 6.2.2.6 or is there anything else I can do?
Thanks
Martin

That will stop it, as it has no other way in updating or getting new info. I can vouch for it, as I just went looking around at the settings and it stopped mine upgrading until I downloaded and installed the firmware myself.

Hi Paul,
First of all, thanks again for the firmware file.
The reason I was asking about the effectiveness of using a dummy url is that there was nothing entered in that field before, which made me ask myself whether it made any difference entering something.
BTW, in case anyone is wondering what difference this makes my sync speed has gone from around 3.5 to 5.15 just by tweaking the snr down.
Regards
Martin

Wow! Gosh that is some speed increase. Yes nothing was in their before as BT had made the settings hidden.
This is part of a standard 6.1.1.M config backup:
[ env.ini ]
set var=CONF_REGION value=UK
set var=CONF_PROVIDER value=BT
set var=CONF_DESCRIPTION value="UK Factory Defaults"
set var=CONF_SERVICE value="Routed PPPoA on 0.38"
set var=HOST_SETUP value=auto
set var=UPGRADE_URL value=http://www.speedtouch.co.uk/upgrade
set var=SESSIONTIMEOUT value=600
set var=COLUMNS value=80
set var=ROWS value=24
set var=CONF_DATE value="Configuration modified by CWMP"
set var=CONF_VERSION value=1.0.0
set var=CONF_TPVERSION value=2.0.0
If you backup your config and look at the same section you will have a different address. The one wich you entered. Go to that page in a web browser you get a 404 error.

could someone point me in the right direction to doing this? I dont want my hub to uprade....

Unfortunately, it doesn't stop the hub from automatically upgrading. I spent some time yesterday flashing my hub back to 6.1.1.R. I changed the udate url from the cli but this morning, I logged on only to find the [censored] hub has automatically "Upgraded" to 6.2.2.6 again.
Not happy.

I wonder why my hub hasnt upgraded itself yet??

I've noticed that there seems to be quite a spread of time for these upgrades. Obviously they don't want to do them all at once. Apart from spreading the load, the first "Wave" are beta testers...
Did you get the last upgrade quickly?
You are leaving your hub on overnight?

BT said...
"The roll-out is staggered - initial figures were approximately 20,000 per
night with a targeted completion date of 19/01/07, although obviously these
were estimates and subject to change."

How do I get back to 6.1.1.R? My hub upgraded itself to 6.2.2.6 and my sync speed has gone down from about 6000 to 3900 (SNR up from 10.5 to 14.5). Any detailed tips on how to stop it re-upgrading would be welcome!
