BT Broadband Optimisation Period?

[link to this post]

Hi,

Is the 'Optimisation Period' some BT buzz term for 'hoping the problem will go away'?
I received BT Broadband Option 3 on Monday and so far my download speed is about 12Kbps. Sometimes I get as high as 25Kbps. Lucky me.
I am connecting at approx 3.5Mb and should be looking at a download speed of about 320Kbps judging by my previous 2Mb connection I had with Bulldog where I had a 230Kbps download rate.
I have been told by Tech support that this optimisation period will last up to 10 days but I can't see how my net connection will suddenly sort itself out.

There is an initial 10 day "training" period

there is a good explanation here

There are many very helpful people who frequent this forum who know a lot more than I do but I believe you should leave it as frequent reboots could possibly lead the system to think your line is more unstable than it really is

Thank you for your reply.
I thought I was getting fed any old cock and bull story but it appears that it is genuine.
I'll give it till Wednesday before chasing this up any further.
