Home Hub + Netgear DG834

[link to this post]

I currently have a wired ethernet network of two machines in an outbuilding internet fed from a Netgear DG834 with another ethernet cable running into the house to add a laptop to the network.

My question is; If I had the Home Hub in the house running the wireless equipped laptop could I run an ethernet cable off of the Home Hub to supply the DG834 in the outbuilding and the two machines connected to it?

Thanks

Regards Paul.

Yes with ease, you will just have to make sure that you put your netgear into bridged mode, this way it just acts as a switch. I done this with my linksys.

Thanks for that, I think I'll switch over to Home Hub then. :-)

Do you happen to know how much it costs to call a 05 number from another provider? I've searched till I'm scatty but can't find it on the BT site.

Cheers

Regards Paul.

Well I call it from my mobile at times and it is very little to no charge from what I have found. Bottom line is from what I have found it is very little.

Thanks,

It won't get called so often but it's nice to know it won't cost a fortune to ring it.

You could ask for an 01/02 number served as normally served through your local exchange when you sign up - there's an option for this.

So ..... my landline number is an 01327 number and my broadband voice number is also an 01327 number. Easier to remember and makes folk less suspicious of cos when ringing it. No good if you'd prefer geographic anonymity on IP calls but easier in other ways.
