Very occasionally, when I've tried to go online, the modem syncs OK, green light, 7Mb downstream speed connected etc., however the BT DHCP servers seem not to respond to provide my modem with an IP address/DNS server info, so obviously I can't connect to anything.
Tried powering off and on, no luck, but if I leave it a for a while, and try again later, it's back again, and everything is OK. I have a Netgear DG824M router.
This evening it happened and I made the mistake of phoning BT support, who took me through every configuration setting on my PC and router (even though I assured them it was working perfectly yesterday and nothing had been changed). I eventually ended the call saying that I'd just leave it as it usually comes back on its own. He wouldn't agree that it was any problem with the BT side of things, but he said he'd call back tomorrow to see how I got on.
A few minutes later of course and it 'fixed itself' and we're back online. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Fortunately it doesn't happen very often...
