Slow browsing in past few days?

[link to this post]

Anyone else experiencing sporadic slow browsing problems since around the middle of last week? My connection has been fine up until Thursday and now when visiting various websites I'm left sitting waiting for pages to open, sometimes when I click on the link again it opens immediately, other times it's still slow, and then again sometimes it's completely fine.

I wondered if it was just something to do with the sites I was visiting, but my mum has also mentioned it and I spoke to someone else on BT today and they said they'd been experiencing the same thing too.

Yes even folks high up in BT are getting the same problem. I think it is due to a high speed fibre link being cut in Canada a week odd ago. You will notice downloads are not slowed nor do pages time out but its just slow.

Put it this way BT have it good, Be there users are having a hard time! Youtube is a big problem for them.

Cheers, I had tested my connection a couple of times and found it to be fine, as you say downloads are not a problem, just slow browsing. It's being doing my head in! Makes me feel better to know it's not just my own connection

Interestingly I've not had any problems with browsing or downloads and I've been using the Internet extensively recently due to a strained achilles tendon

I use streaming video regulary from around the globe and have downloaded a lot of software updates from the US, UK and Germany. I'm on Option 3 with up to 8MB and typically get download speeds between 2.5MB and 7.5MB dependant on time of day and exchange congestion which now seems to be my biggest problem.

Well I should imagine it will be as fast as Cogent can repair their broken fibre link. Then a day or two for everything to settle down again.

Yeah xbox live works ok. Just nobody can do anything about it apart from Cogent.
