Home Hub and print server on LAN

[link to this post]

Has anyone else had problems using a LAN print server with the HH? I've had problems with both a standalone Linksys server and the one built into my Maxtor Shared Storage II NAS.

With the Linksys, all LAN traffic stopped when it was connected to the LAN. With the Maxtor, it would work for very small jobs, albeit slowly, but, for anything with raster graphics on more than half the page, the job would never actually get through to the print server. Both print servers worked fine with my previous router.

Very frustrating.

I Currently use a safecom router print server connected to my local Lan. the router is only used for the print server facility and works great. My BT HH is my main router for the internet. The home Lan also has 2 Lan disks connected.
I did have problems but resolved all my issues by following some simple rules.
1. BT HH - DHCP enabled - Lan ip set as default
2 .Safecom router print server - Disabled DHCP - Default Lan ip changed
3. Landisk 1 - Disabled DHCP - Default Lan IP changed.
4. Landisk 2 - Disabled DHCP - Default Lan IP changed
All Lan devices have their own unique IP addresses within the 192.168.1.X range.

Everything works great. Just make sure you are using the latest firmware for all Lan devices and latest drivers for your printer.I currently use a Canon printer. I do recall not getting my old usb HP printer not to work as a network printer. I didn't realy have time to investigate so i now use that HP printer connected to the home office machine

Thanks. The IP system works fine. The HH is the only DHCP server on the LAN, and I use manual IP settings for a "belt and braces" approach - just the same as with my previous router (which handled it all fine).

I've actually ditched the HH and gone back to my previous router, with a new ADSLmax modem - all working nicely. Perhaps the HH is big but not very clever?
