Email access from other ISPs?

[link to this post]

My aunt has sent her machine away from repair, but is expecting some important email...

If she can remember their username/password (and this is a big if!), would I be able to pickup the account's mail by POP3 (or IMAP) over my connection, or do BT only allow connections to their mail servers from their IP ranges? If it is possible to read the mail from here, what is the server to connect to?

Better still: do BT have a webmail system that she could log into from a friend's house or local library? (and if so, what is the URL for that?)

http://home.bt.yahoo.com/

Should work, just input the correct username and password.

or http://mail.yahoo.com works as well (or at least it does for me)

I think ultimately they both end up in the same place.

Aye, that did the trick. They are happily webmailing from elsewhere until their machine comes back..

And it earned me a good vodka, so if you are anywhere near York at some point I'll buy you a drink
