Yeah was thinking this connection is a bit quick tonight, what we should do is a keep a log of the nights when the speed is good instead of poor as it would be very long. I have told BT when the speeds are good but it slides from one ear canal to the other!!

Mine hasn't dropped below 5000 all evening so far. I thought it may be something to do with an email I sent them last night - but obviously not as the improvement seems widespread.
Wonder how long it will last .............

Thank your lucky stars my router says the downstream rate is 5120 Kbps but the max speed I get is 30kb/s and the speedtest shows the downstream as a pathetic 188.23 Kbps.
Even the upload rate is faster on the router says it says 448Kbps but is actually 360.51 Kbps which is almost double the downstream speed.

Which is what I get 24/7 sadly, even though I'm not with BT, but they control me at the exchange.

Mine is almost identical to yours.

Yes but not to the extent that its really widespread as all IP-Stream ISP's would be affected by exchange based congestion. As for it affecting other exchanges not a chance, exchange congestion is really the typical ISP response when they cant think of anything else to say.

Well - it's still lasting for me. 6437 just now at 7.35pm. Blimey - have BT pulled out a plug or something ????

I wish...I connect at 8Meg, but am throttled to 1Meg every evening. I am not a high user...and I am getting really [censored].
I know there isn't even any contention issue at the exchange, because if I connect via VPN to my company network...I immediately get downloads above 6Meg again!

feel lunky you get 1Mbit - that is atleast semi useable... 0.5Mbit here and I can't even stream video at all often during peak times without leaving it for half an hour to buffer and if I want to listen to a music stream I can't browse the web at the same time without it constantly cutting out to rebuffer...

I don't understand it - this evening at 2020 I am getting 6457. I was always choked like you then emailed asking for confirmation of my contractual status as I was thinking of leaving due to throttling and since then - no throttling!
I've done all the things every one else has done in terms of phoning India etc. etc. to no effect so why suddenly I should be OK I really don't know.
Most odd.............

Thats what always drove me nuts. Unreal isn't it, in this day an age you can't run 2 apps incase one sucks all the bandwidth because people have been limited.
The last time that happend to me was on the ISDN days. Which was 3 - 4 years ago.
