Interleaving Bt Line

About 4 months ago when I had a speed issue, Bt(Indian Tech support) turned off interleaving (There suggestion). I had a consistent speed increase of about 500kbps. Since then I have had sporadic drops of the same amount, rang up and after the usual scripted conversation, they switched it back off. Speed back to normal.

6 weeks ago when Vision was installed the same speed drop occurred. Bt insist interleaving is off.

I used the DMT tool which says interleaving is on. Is this result reliable.? Or who is correct BT or DMT?

Does anybody know if Vision requires interleaving?

How do I get BT to turn interleaving off permanently?

Interesting question, Im about to have it installed and hope that it does not.........

You must be on an old version of the hub firmware as DMT doesnt work with the latest 6.2.2.6 version.

But you should be able to use the home hub itself to tell you if interleaving is on or not.

Interleaving is a form of error correction if a line is constantly throwing errors up (something the DSLAMs at the exchange monitor for) or is really unstable.

As such, I wouldn't have thought that BTVision needs interleaving switched on, however it could be handy to stop the stream from getting small corruptions which 'Freeview' boxes can sometimes suffer from with a loud click through the speakers and a checkerboard effect and / or frozen picture for a second or two.

Er, no I am using a voyager2500v. sorry.
However last time I trie a hub a week ago, it did say it was on. I have quoted that to be who said not to take any notice of that MMMm.

I will leave alone for now if it may help vision.

Thanks, wouls seem conclusive interleaving must be on. 3 different things say so.
Hub, DMT and 2500v.

I will have a try with tech support again to get it switched off and see how it goes

DMT says my interleave is on when it isn't. To tell whether you have interleaving applied, look for FEC errors. I seem to remember Voyagers also will display the interleave status.

The settings for interleave at the sharp end are 'opt in, auto, opt out' so the question is whether they are setting it to auto or opt out if it keeps changing.

Also Vision appeared to start a new 'training period' on max when I had it fitted.

Try emailing broadband support via the contact-us form on the bt website

Tell them that interleaving is affecting your ping on gaming and could they please turn it off.

I did that and they turned it off for me, its been off ever since.
