Unsolicited adverts

Over a number of weeks I have experienced an increase in the uncommanded opening of internet explorer pages. These are adverts which relate to whatever site I have open at the time. For example � viewing a banking page will result in i.e.7 (this also occurs when using Firefox) opening one or more pages of adverts for investments. This occurs when I visit virtually any site and that also includes this site.
I have tried virtually all malware/spy removal programs known to man with no success. It would be an understatement to say that the problem is driving me bonkers!!! (if I wasn�t already!!)
Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so how did you deal with it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. (Is this an example of PHORN?)

Have you run a scan using Lavasoft Adware? You can download a free version.

I have also noticed this increase but it coincides with a similar increase in SPAM emails in my BT mail boxes.

I have also found emails in my SENT ITEMS folder at Yahoo Mail which name me as the sender but I did't send them and they are part of a SCAM asking for confirmation of personal banking details. I never send mails from BTY Mail - always Outlook Express and these are only in the Yahoo facility.

I have emailed the Broadband Team askiing why these were in my mailbox and suggesting a hole in the security system but all I get is a very mechanical reply asking me to change my password.

In my case it would not have been possible for anyone to get my password other than BTYand I have asked for an investigation into the security arrangements.

I am now concerned that my personal details have been accessed - PHORM? Who knows.

I have had the same happening to me and like you, I don't use Yahoo mail. Ever worse, I have had what would appear to be a fraudulent charge to my creditcard (now cancelled!!) from Yahoo Mail which is under investigation by my creditcard company.

Well the issue for you appears to be either a keylogger on your PC or a similar web based on. Either way change your password.

I have not got sent items I never sent in either my Yahoo or BT Internet accounts.

As for the OP you might want to try an online scanner such as windows live safety scanner I think its called or Trend Micro's house call.

Thank you for your suggestions but I have already used that clean-up program and also regularly change my passwords. Its must be some deeply hidden entry in the registry which these programs are unable to identify.
I may have to resort to dire measures, like total disk reformating and re-installing........what a nightmare !!

This is not how Phorm is meant to work, it should only offer adverts on sites that are signed up to its OIX.

Sounds more like you have some other form of malware on the computer

Hand on heart I have not had an issue with malware or a virus personally in years now. Last time was in 2003 with MS.Blaster which arguably was one of the bigger viruses but at the same time one of the most humorous as they guy who programmed it couldn't even direct the DDoS at the correct URL!

Super Anti Spyware or Spybot Search And Destroy

Both freely downloadable, run them in safe mode for the best chance of finding and dealing with this stuff....
Failing that, try SmitFraudFix.

The very last thing you should be considering is a format.. unless you got nothing on thats worth keeping.
