Transfer settings to a new BT Homehub?

I have recently been having problems with my BT Homehub version 1.5 and BT have sent me a replacement Homehub.

My question is, does anyone know if there is a way to transfer the settings from my old Homehub to the new one? It would be quite long winded to have to do it all manually.

BTW I can still access the old Homehub, it's not dead.

What settings would you need to transfer ? Just plug the new hub in and away you go, surely ?

I have set up a number of programmes in "Application Sharing" and also I have 14 devices connected with fixed IP addresses and they all need changeing manually.

The Homehub is just a modified Speedtouch right? if so then there should be an option to back up the config as a .cfg text file somewhere. Might be on the firmware upgrade page, or on the config page where you can specify manual settings.

Then again, BT might have removed such a feature.....

I don't recall seeing such an option. Perhaps, as you say, BT have removed it.

Well the 14 devices with static IP addresses should be set on the device instead of the home hub ticking the box.

As for application sharing just have to put them back in.

Thomson have removed the back-up config on their new firmware releases as it was a security risk apparently.

Strange, I've got the latest firmware 6.2.17.5 on a Speedtouch 546v6 and still have the backup config option under "/home/speedtouch/configuration/Backup & Restore/".

Perhaps it's a security risk on the homehubs or BT's decision to remove it rather than Thompsons.

Not sure, I know that the backup removal was removed by Thomson as you could alter the DSL connection defaults which meant you could in theory make your line perform better but their was some side effect.

It was available until recently via the remote admin side until that got locked off as it was unsecured. Thomson really don't make very secure routers!

BT request due to an easy backdoor exploit for taking over admin of the HH, IIRC.
