Does BT throttling effect SSH connections?

[link to this post]

Hi all

We switched from Be to BT earlier today and tonight I've noticed my https connectino to my server (Webhost manager) is incredibly slow
IT's like being on dial up
I've been reading threads about BT apparently throttling traffic for all users, but I was wondering if this effects https connections as well?

HTTP is suppose to be ok mate but BT are very strict on traffic shaping, especialy during peak hours.

Have you allowed 10 days for your connection to settle?

What port is the host running SSH on? a few ports around and including the default port for bit torrent are capped to 12KB/s during peak times for me - while all others are at 0.5Mbit.

Default port for WHM is 2087, using HttpS
SSH runs on 65535 I think, I'd have to check.

be aware of samknows recent tests, (unfortenatly for some reason tbb didnt do a news article on it so its slid by quietly).

They did http traffic over port 10000, BT throttled it as if it was p2p yet it was only http traffic, so based on that I think its entirely possible your web traffic is been throttled as if its p2p.

I do wonder why you dropped BE (a customer focused isp) to BT (a profit focused isp).

Yea it's happening for all https connections I make (I've got several servers which use https and ssh)
Typical.
