A few questions for a friend ...

[link to this post]

I'm a bit vague on details so apologies to start off with.

A friend has just ordered (actually an upgrade, she's currently paying "about 17") with BT. She has signed up to a 9.99 for the duration of the contract (she's not sure which, or for how long). Grrrrrrrrr. Anyway, I'm assuming this is the Option 1 with a deal for being a current customer? She says she is expecting a letter of confirmation with the router delivery on Monday (she has not bothered to set up an email at all so far). Don't ask !

I'm guessing the 'router' is actually a Home Hub?

She's just bought a laptop. But she wants to connect her existingt PC wirelessly as well.

Can anyone suggest a dongle that works well with the Home Hub?

She's not particuarly IT literate but I'm hoping it's fairly easy to set up from the CD instructions? And is the security fairly straightforward to set up?
Otherwise I'll have to go visit and try to sort it out

Thanks for any help.
Cheers

Presumably the laptop has wireless built in, so they will not need a dongle to connect with wireless

Buy anyone you want, it don't matter much. I have a Buffalo USB adapter on my desktop. Here is a link for one of the later version, but it will work with the home hub, in fact it will work with the home hub 2 if you are unlucky enough to get one of them

IOh here is the link

Thanks for the dongle suggestion. I'll suggest that and some others too.

Yes, I think a visit might be in order otherwise the dreaded 18 phone calls to get it sorted. I'll let her have a go first, get her confidence up

Cheers
