My father has been having issues with BT Broadband for many months now. He used to get download speeds of up to 6.5M, as confirmed by thinkbroadband.com speed checker, since late 2006, this has been reducing to now He gets an annoying 472.03 Kbps.
I've confirmed this, I cannot believe it, his sync speeds are good at 7160kbps, his s/n look good, but he's getting a high number of CRC, FEC Errors, when downloading stuff, is this anything to be concerned about.
He's using a BT Home Hub 1.5, but He's also replaced this with a Linksys HS200 and he gets the same poor download speeds, on occasion he gets 6.5M, but most of the time it's 472.03 Kbps. He finds this unacceptable when he's paying top whack to BT, 30 a month. He's logged calls with BT Support, which told him there was a fault on the line, today he had a visit from a BT Engineer, which connected his laptop with ADSL Modem, did a speedtest and told him I've got 6.5MB at the socket, and went!
He decided to go with BT Broadband, BT Home Hub, BT Telephone line, it's all BT so he was hoping they would find the fault and there would be no issues, if he needed to report a fault to them.
BT speed checker also confirms the same results as thinkbroadband.com.
Any ideas or comments greatly received, what I can do to help my father resolve this?
Here's a graph of speeds since late 2006.
