BT to start charging an out-of-contract exit fee

[link to this post]

Just in case you missed it - new T&Cs from 15th June include:

Ceasing Service Charge
If you cease your service outside of your Minimum Period and do not request and use a migration access code (MAC) or other recognised transfer process to move to another service provider, you will have to pay a charge of £16.35. You will not have to pay this charge if you are moving premises and BT is unable to provide the Service at the new premises.

Also - there's a charge to downgrade:

Downgrade charge
If you change your service to a lower priced BT Business Total Broadband
Service you will be charged a downgrade fee of £75.

All the goodness is here: http://business.bt.com/terms/pdf/BTB_access_service_...

I thought this was already in effect :

Last line on there, I was researching that as I was due to move house and ISP but hit some delays. Should be sorted in a month or two.

I thought this wouldnt effect too many people as most will use mac to transfer. Most cases will be people moving to cable and moving house.

Re: BT Business ADSL Cease Fee

[re: Anis] [link to this post]

Maybe it wasn't charged on Business Connections, which is what the OP is talking about, assuming the second quote he gives is from teh same T & Cs.

But as you say, nothing unusual about it - unless it wasn't on Business before.

(I've change the Subject to try to clarify things a bit).

that is only a cease, if you migrate then you don't get charged. I think they have been charging for a while, but only because BTW charges.
