Oh, by the way, I think you will find your cynical "esteemed" would be thought too kind by most on these forums.

Thanks for the welcome. smile

It could well be automatic, yes - it's updated on the half-hour every 2 hours if you call 0800 1690199, but it doesn't really tell you anything beyond "it's not working", and to call back later "when it's fixed" (?!) or to try their website at...

I could handle not knowing when it's due to come back online if I only know what the problem is in the first place! I spent a while last night messing with my hardware because the BT box was showing nothing wrong. Could've saved all that time and effort if I'd had something a little more specific than "it's broken but it'll work again soon" to go on. Logic told me that it couldn't possibly be a fault right across the country - ha.

Anyway, 2 hours on and it's still running and stable. Hopefully it's all sorted now.

Really? I haven't had much time to view the forums as yet - I was stuck on O2's EDGE service last night, so I began to lose the will to live after half an hour. Are BT not too popular in these parts, then? Can't think why. wink

It seems BT's definition of 'soon' is 'around 10 hours'.

What a cock up.
