BT (fixed IP users) stuck in the slow lane

[link to this post]

Anyone with any insight into this (see below) - I have just moved our mail servers onto a Zen broadband link to get things flowing again. Since 'soon' during the last outage amounted to 10 hours, I presume they are going for gold and holding out for an even longer time here!? What are they doing to their static IP platform?

Static IP's only: Problem with slow response
We are currently experiencing problems which may mean some Business customers with static ip's may be experiencing slow response when accessing the internet. Our engineers are investigating the situation and we hope to have it resolved shortly. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.

10 hours? Still sounds like 99% uptime if thats all during the month.

Also your hosting a critical mail server on a ADSL link without any redundancy? If you need to have it, get a broadband service with a uptime SLA.

Erm, yeah, redundancy - like the Zen line I mentioned, which feeds the fault tolerant server.

Erm - SLA on an ADSL line - like the one with have with BT you mean? The one for which we pay £100/month. Um - OK. I'll remind them - just like I did when they cut us off for 5 days during a regrade.

BT have SLA's on their ADSL broadband products?

My residential line with BT has been relatively trouble free, very little downtime. They have been doing some work on static IP customers recently from what I can remember.

There still seems to be a problem with this - and while the bt broadband status page says all is resolved the problem is clearly still there. Phoning them confirmed this.

I've also had to move a mail server to a different line laugh
