North Devon + Rain = Dead Internet

[link to this post]

It rained and the internet broke.

My workplace in Bideford uses BT and I have Entanet at home in Braunton. Both locations have full DSL sync and normal figures for noise etc but no CHAP authentication. It's intermittent. The BT help line has a 20 minute wait. Co-incidence? This also happened some weeks ago for a day or two.

I'm not asking for any help just letting people know something in North Devon gets affected by the rain, anyone have any more information?

Now Entanet 8MB Max Allowance 3GB via Moortek
Was Prodigynet Home 500, < good riddance

rant: New Threads should have descriptive topics not 'Anything happened?' or 'help!!!!!!!11!!11' etc. /rant

I'd guess that if you're synching but not getting authentication, that it's a flooded exchange -- but only part of the machinery has been deluged, i.e. whatever connects the exchange to the BT network at large. I'm probably wrong, but it's worth a try wink

The BT helpline having a 20-minute wait suggests that less people are phoning than usual... frown
