Wireless on 2wire BT 2700HGV

[link to this post]

Good morning, I'm hoping some of you can help with this simple but slighty frustrating issue - I'm trying to connect a Dell Latitude D510 to my friends BT Hub - it is the 2Wire 2700HGV.

The laptop works fine on my Sky WPA wireless connection so I have ruled out the laptop - the wireless was activated by default but I just can't seem to connect as it says cannot find IP address. It works without security on an open network so it's obviously the password or some set-up issue.

Anyone faced a similar issue? An pearls of wisdom? Or even an iditios guide - I guess there's a reset somewhere so I was thinking of going back to factory settings.

One thing that has confused me is that it only has the WEP secure code on the back and no WPA which according to the net tells me it's an early model - does that mean it can't be used with WPA?

Thanks - Blue

I think you are referring to the router. I don't know about that model, but IIRC the O2 Box (TG 585v7) comes the same re WEP. I just changed the selection in the GUI to WPA (or WPA2 i forget which) and the same key worked.

Certainly not an old model.

Hi Rob, yes the router - I say old model but perhaps I should have said, old version as apparently the newer style have WEP and WPA keys on the back.

Think I'll reset it and start again.

Thanks - Blue
