Loosing sync when phone rings

[link to this post]

Hi there,

Ever since moving to the new ADSL2+, every time my phone rings the router looses connection with the internet. After a min or so the router connects again without an issue. If I make a phone call it stays connected.

I have changed the mico filters on both phones and this has made no difference.

Has anyone else had this issue after they have been migrated to the ADSL2+

I have not contacted the support yet, as I wanted to see if the micro filter replacement would make any difference.

I will have to report this tomorrow, but just wanted to see if anyone else had this issue and what was done to rectify it.

Many thanks

Simon

Yes, I had similiar problem and apparently it is to do with some 'metallic pathways' and/or 'tie pairs' in the exchange ( these may both be the same thing, I'm no expert ).

Lowering my upstream sync, which in turn increased the upstream SNR fixed the problem, but it is more of a bodge than a proper fix because I am missing around a third of my upload bandwidth. Luckily for me I rarely upload anything so I haven't noticed the reduction in upload.

Apparently BT are arguing amongst themselves about if, when and who should be upgrading them.

Good luck smile

I did a bit of searching on the net, and yer there were a few people blaming the exchange and BT and the ISP arguing who is responsible.

Well I acquired a couple of new ADSL filters as the ones I had were 7 years old. When I first got ADSL installed in the house. Hay bingo that did the trick. I guess maybe one of them had packed up, or maybe they could not cope with or designed for ADSL2+.

So I'm happy again smile
