Throttling

I am thinking of returning just for BTV but want to check do they throttle during peak times.
Last time I was with them downloading and watching Iplayer became impossiable at times.
Beofre any one suggests can download midnight onwards.

Yes, BTBroadband "Throttle" through the "Ellacoyas" traffic management systems (Google for info). So you're almost guaranteed to hit traffic shaping from 5pm onwards.

However there are some 'fanboys' whom deny that they are throttled at any point..

Personally you'd do well to stay away as there are far better ISPs available..

iplayer has been a bit better lately... but theres no guarantees with BT - it could go to [censored] again tomorrow peak time seems to have been extended as well - quite often its 5pm til 2am which is taking the *****...

Throttling seems to be all over the shot as well - they seem to have eased up a bit on more common stuff - but tightened up a lot on less common stuff so I often end up having to use an SSL connection to mask perfectly legit, non filesharing stuff during peak times so I can actually use it.... specially takes the mick when they are often relatively low bandwidth activities that only require 200-300kbit to work fine as well... but BT has decided to throttle them to either ~34.4 or 100kbit.

Am on BE and it was only BT vision which tempted me back. Its just a pity they dont do it wiothout there sh ite BB

BT Throttle p2p mercilessly outside of the wee small hours. Everthing else is no problem in my experience.

Vision is good value compared to Sky but you must have good freeview reception to make it worthwhile

You would give up BE, so you can get BTVision?
BTV is a good idea, but it is not worth giving up a decent ISP for.

Lack of content is BTV downfull, I posted a link on the thread "BT Vision" on this forum that pointed to what is available on BTV.

I came from a decent ISp to BT just for BT broadband anywhere, I still deciding after about 14months if I done the right thing.
