BT so called budles

[link to this post]

A Bt rep said on one of the BT forums a a while back that Bt was going to be competitive with their new bundles, looking what the Register says and looking at them myself, I can't see anything that is competitive.

Talk Talk, orange and sky beats the price hands down on what Bt is charging.
i am pretty sure that Bt don't want customers, otherwise they would give better deals.

It's also worth remembering the "extras" with BT Broadband.....BB Talk (effectively a 2nd line for free)...Digital Vault for online storage (admittedly not the greatest)....Flickr Pro account for free...access to Fon & Openzone if opted in....Free support numbers....Free Security Software Suite (Ok...it's McAfee but some people are paying for it!).

I'm not suggesting it amounts to the best deal but there are some things in there that people might find useful.

On Market 1 exchanges BT can be pretty competitive. For instance, if you are after up to 20 meg download speed with a 10 GB usage allowance and anytime calls, £15.99 a month is hard to beat.

Budles? good grief, I should have put a n in there.

Well unless it is my phone and router I have found BB talk to be noisy and bad quality, saying that I have used it using my mobile and it was ok then, but no on my router. I also don't see much point in it myself, well not for me anyway.

Fon/openzone, again never used it, not enough hotspots for it to be useful.

You can get security software for free from other places. I use flicker on yahoo, but never used the BT one, for the same reason why I don't use BT email service.
Vault I used a cou0ple of times, since I got Bt broadband anywhere, I could take a picture with the phone and then send it to the vault, but unless I was at a friends place with wireless, it would take too long and cost to much via mobile internet.

So I have got a couple of pictures in the vault, but I don't think I have accessed it for months.

Is it really worth £25 a month? i thought it was once, but not sure now.

anyway the point is that the way Bt went on about their bundles, you would have thought they would compete with Talk Talk or Orange, but they are no where near.

that is no good if you are not on market one.

I thought since Talk Talk have now grabbed hold of Tiscali and have unbundled exchanges all over the place that BT would feel threatened and would lower their prices, but it seems like Bt are not that bothered.

but when a Is is doing unlimited broadband for £15 a month, then you would think BT would take notice. ok so unlimited is not a word they should use, but then BT version of unlimited is no better.

the best Bt can do is 20Gb for that amount of money. It is ok for Bt to stick unlimited calls in a bundle, but many people don't use landline much these days, they use their mobiles.

In fact if it was not for the fact that we need to have a landline for broadband, I am pretty sure that the home phone would slowly vanish.

I guess BT Retail have their hands tied due to the price of IPStream set by BT Wholesale. That being said, if one of their companies (Plusnet) can offer the spectacularly low price of £5.99 a month for Broadband in Market 3 exchanges, I agree that BT Retail should be able to do something similar.

On Market 3 exchanges Plusnet are far better value. I pay PN £22.24 for my package including line rental against BT's £27.53.

It certainly does seem like BT is happy to let its Plusnet operation do the aggressive pricing in market 3 exchanges.

BT Retail go for £5.99 then others will follow and cut quality to be able to undercut it, or force Ofcom's hand and complain of anti competitive behaviour

Everyone knows who owns Plusnet, so what's the difference?
