What a result after disconnected unnecessary wiring!

[link to this post]

I recently moved and the first sync with BTBO3 was 10k/1k but the connection was terribly unstable and dropped very often. After a few days the downstream had dropped down to 2.9k even though the line attenuation was only 41.

Today I opened the tiny BT box and noted the pair of wires being used and opened the extension box and all 8 wires were plugged in as well as wires leading to another extension box. I disconnected all the extra wiring leaving only the line pair and the result was incredible:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1496 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 400-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :12455 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 1103 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 9.49:23.46:67.05 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
It's been as high as 13.8k too and appears to be stable although the IP Profile is crippling the speed but from what I've read it should sort itself after a few days. I was used to 1800/448 at my old house so it will be a big improvement once it is usable.

I don't have a master socket in the house, it's just a tiny box where the line comes in under the window. This tiny box is wired to an extension style box. I'm wondering if a master socket and an iPlate will likely see even higher speeds?

You should have a master socket as it will contain protection circuitry. Does this box contain a couple of electronic components?

Good point, it does have components and I did some reading and it's one of the old style master sockets.
