Interleaving to Fast latency, How are my stats?

[link to this post]

Hey guys. Tried playing some Day of Defeat and TF2 at my new house (rural) and the latency is shocking. Do you think from these stats I could go down the fast latency mode over the current interleaving latency method? Uptime on the router/line is 14 days.

Connection information
Line state Connected
Connection time 14 days, 8:01:46
Downstream 4,768 Kbps
Upstream 448 Kbps

ADSL settings
VPI/VCI 0/38
Type PPPoA
Modulation ITU-T G.992.1
Latency type Interleaved
Noise margin (Down/Up) 8.9 dB / 18.0 dB
Line attenuation (Down/Up) 47.0 dB / 29.5 dB
Output power (Down/Up) 19.8 dBm / 12.0 dBm
Loss of Framing (Local) 0
Loss of Signal (Local) 0
Loss of Power (Local) 0
FEC Errors (Down/Up) 214416 / 54
CRC Errors (Down/Up) 233 / 2147480000
HEC Errors (Down/Up) nil / 37
Error Seconds (Local) 2471

The downstream connection speed is bad as well, and the noise margin high.

I suggest you reboot the router and see if everything improves.

Strange the big drop in attenuation from your O2 Access stats. Or are you at a new address? Is it still Dundee Park, as the exchange could be the problem?

Is it a newish-build house. If builders installed extension wiring that can cause havoc.

(An aside - I thought you were advised not to go for another 12-month contract .... tongue)

These stats are at the new address. Now on WWPAR exchange in Cornwall http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/WWPAR very little choice of ISP, didn't want to go down the Orange or Talk Talk LLU route, and no Sky or O2 LLU on my exchange. Router is plugged directly into the master socket, wiring looks to be around 6 years old (same age as the house) and all looks in fairly good condition. I'm quite a distance from the exchange and I was estimated to receive 3Mb

Have you tried a reboot of the router as I suggested?

It might be worth having a look at the wiring inside the Master Socket, see my ring/bell wire page. Also look at Miscellaneous nasties there.

You might find the tbb Quality Monitor useful for detecting any patterns. The behaviour of the time-scale is odd for the first 24 hours then it sorts itself out.

And at the end of your 12 months, you should migrate to xilo/uno or vivaciti LLU smile.

Restarted the Router but very little change in syn and other stats. Have setup a monitor and will see how that gets on over the next 24 hours.
