What's the point of the BT Hub Phone?

[link to this post]

I've just signed up to BT Broadband option 3, and they've sent me a BT Hub Phone, along with a Home Hub.

I can't work out why on earth we'd want to use this. We already get free 24/7 calls. If we used it, the calls would cost us money.

Am I missing something?

Yes, you are missing the fact that the BT systems do not fully link your telephony calling plan to your Broadband account.

You get free evening and weekend calls with the hub phone. I found no use for it either and I always had problems with mine.

I suppose it is useful if you got a family.
