12V DC and fairly smooth, but there is some high frequency noise on it.

Don't those Fibre cabinets use normal mains to keep them going? i presume the phone system itself still have it's own power supplies,.

What's that got to do with the power supply to the modem?

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - IDNet Home Starter Fibre. Live BQM.

If the power goes off and the cabinets are using the same power, then broadband will be lost, so what is the point in having a UPS for a modem?

The FTTC cabinets have UPS, and in any case probably run off a different sub-station. Our sub-station is very close, the cabinet is 500m.

Also power failure could be localised in the building or limited to one phase so the cabinet will still be working fine.
