Bt charge for 1571 and 1471 facility

I have just received my latest bill and to my amazement BT are charging 17p each time I use the 1571 and 1471 facility.I do not recall being advised of this and I will be looking for a new ISP when my present contract comes to and end.I will of course choose an ISP where I do not require a BT landline.
I get really angry when I see the adverts giving "goodies" to new customers,they should pay more attention to those of us who have been faithfull for many years.

Had a look at my BT bills (on-line paperless billing). Can't see any logs of several 1471 calls that I have made and therefore cannot have been charged for.

Are you using the 1471 facility to connect you to the missed call?

I seem to remember they charge an additional connection fee for this.

Shows that 1471 and 1571 calls are free but if you do call return are charged at 17p per minute. I.e. you use them to call the number back instead of hanging up and dialiing the number yourself.

17p per use, not per minute.

Never do the Call Back on these #s; always note the calling # and manually call back.

You will probably find other providers are at least as dear.

Maybe Xrayspex is american? Or maybe they just prefer hash? And the internet does tend to use abbreviations that save typing (and as people could be posting from mobiles/tablets then saving some "key presses" could save some time).

Thanks for responses-my wife has used the service to call back on miised calls.
She is now in the brig and there are no phones there.

Not sure what this has specifically to do with BT Broadband per se.

Surely an issue for the BT mother ship. If you change ISPs and keep BT for your phone it wouldn't make any difference.
