I'm currently with Be, but am being lured to Infinity as 1) they just upgraded my cabinet 2) they are spamming me every week 3) I'm out of contract with Be.
I currently use Be with a static IP and a zyxel modem. I /could/ survive without a fixed IP, by using my Bytemark VM and a tunnel, however I don't 'trust' the 'standard' fisher-price modems -- I never used the Bebox much, the small zyxel was always better.
Also I use some of the routing features of the modem, and use SNMP pretty extensively.
So is there a "good" modem for Infinity, something that will allow good manual configuration ?

The BT OR modem is perfectly fine but the homehub3 is a bit meh.
For bt infinity I would get the Asus RT-N56U

Use the BT modem and put whatever router you want behind it. Does your Zyxel have a WAN port or is there an equivalent that does?

Just a nitpick .
"I use some of the routing features of the modem". Uh?
Perhaps similarly, the Openreach modem is in fact a VSDL2 router.

Thanks for that! Looks pretty useful.
Do you have access to the routing tables as well on the LAN ? ie redirecting some traffic to another machine, for example...

HH3 works perfectly fine on my Infinity setup - infact so has HH1 & 2. You'll get one anyway so no need to waste money buying another unless you already have one of course.

Hmm. Been with Infinity some 6 months now and no probs at all with HH3. In fact no probs with Infinity at all bar 2 overnight outages whilst BT did some "upgrade maintenance"; I was advised of this by checking status and the BB was back on @ 6am as promised. Different experiences for different folk I suppose.

I have to disagree the HH2 was useless on wifi N, fine on G but what is the point of that?? Anyway purchased a Buffulo router which works on N bother and doesn't require a full reset everyday. Could just of been my setup as I had 3 replacements but I have to say I am convinced they are guff as my fathers always seems to require a reboot anytime I am over visiting as well!

Our HH2 has been running perfectly for over a year. I think i've rebooted it a handful of times over that period.
