Just checked out the prices for Business Infinity on 80/20 upgraded to unlimited with a /29 and it is listed at £40 p/m + VAT which is the same price I was seeing for 40/10 last week.
Does this mean BT are waving extra Openreach costs for the upgrade or is their order system screwed up?
|
|
|
knowing bt they charge you for the upgrade (you would need to call BT Business on there prices)
think the VDSL hardware all ready supports 80mb/20 they just had it limited to 40/10 profile at the time

Yeah but the cost from open reach is about 3 quid more (per month) for the 80/20 which most other ISPs are charging (some a little more) but it seems BT are absorbing these costs since the price I am seeing is the same as before the 80/20 upgrade.

Where are you seeing anything about 80/20 on the website, apart from the speed forecaster which just quotes the BT Wholesale figure?
All text elsewhere seems to describe 40Mbps.

Have to agree, nothing on consumer side. On business side looks like last weeks still
http://business.bt.com/broadband-and-internet/fibre-...
No mention of speeds either. Are people therefore assuming this means 80/20 supply?
Also found some 404 pages, so maybe site is being updated now.

When you put through the order, it says 80/20 for £40, like the OP says.

I got one page that gave a postcode checker and one that was a number checker. Both gave 51.7/13.2, with no qualification. But that's all.

When you go through the order process it states the speed, I am not seeing it on any other pages other than those in the order process.
|
|

But is it correct, I wonder? As I've said, all we are seeing is the BT Wholesale figure. There is nothing about it even suggesting it in the text of any page.
Though of course, by the time any connection took place things could be different, especially on BT where they may just (have) uncap(ped) the speeds.

Well this is why my original post was a question
I have been waiting for 80/20 to become available before completing my order but at the moment I am not sure if BT's ordering system is working properly (eg. the 80/20 is same price as 40/10 -was-).
I cant ring them because I am currently in an airport in Copenhagen waiting for a connection flight to DC and wont be back until Sunday.
Also I am still waiting for my damn MAC Code, been nearly 2 weeks since I requested it.

Also I am still waiting for my damn MAC Code, been nearly 2 weeks since I requested it. Checked your user control panel? Assuming you are still on an Entanet connection, (see your profile), that's where it turns up for most resellers.

Given they clearly state 38 Mbps on the product pages, then I would suggest you are just seeing the figures from BT Wholesale who have uncapped the data.
Providers are able to add their own cap if they wish, and maybe one bit of BT Retail is not talking to another bit very well.

Mr S. - Go through a dummy order, it is pretty black and white, it shows connection speed as 80/20 on the order summary page - this is what I am trying to clear up. I don't want to order expecting 80/20 only to find the ordering system is meesed up and it is only the 40/10 package.

Murphx here, but I emailed Vivaciti before I left Heathrow this morning, they updated ticket with MAC about 10 minutes ago.
Now I just need to find out if BT's ordering system is telling porkies or not lol.

Unless you can confirm this over the phone and in writing I would not order at this time.

Yes I think that is my feeling too, hopefully it will be cleared up when I get back to UK at end of the week.

You'll be fine, I heard that they're releasing 80/20 on Monday 16 on Residential at no extra cost. But although that has been well leaked, it isn't necessarily going to be the same on Business, which he is after.

If you sign up to BT Infinity 2 from tomorrow (April 12) youll benefit from downstream speeds that are roughly double those on offer today up to 76Mbps rather than up to 38Mbps.
Were also giving our BT Infinity 1 product a boost by increasing its upstream speed fivefold from up to 1.9Mbps to up to 9.5Mbps.

yes April 12th

I see you can upgrade existing connections tomorrow too, but it will start a new contract.
|
|

Had asked that, and got an answer for those on fibre, but not Infinity
Those on Faster BT Total Broadband should be on up to 40Meg and up to 10 Meg, apparently the 2Meg upload cap vanished some time ago.

Existing customers can use a simple online form to agree to the new contract and get the faster speeds at no extra cost

It offered me 67.5/20 for £30 pm + £6 one-off, ex VAT.
I notice that it limits "100GB usage per month".
EDIT: Just noticed it offered below Unlimited usage for extra £5 pm.

Ugrade using this link.
I've paid for 12 months line rental upfront and I get this.
We're sorry but you cannot reorder Line Rental Saver until 27 days before the end of your original term. We will send you an email to let you know when you can reorder.
Hopefully BT will sort something out in a few weeks.

Looking on the BT forums it looks like you may have to ring them to request the upgrade if you get that message.

Hi Tomsk,
There have been a few problems with customer trying to upgrade that have line rental saver. We are looking into this. If you send me in your details using http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4950 I'll see what can be done.

Hi
I have line rental saver, and have upgraded via the web form. I didn't get any such message ...
Do I assume all is well, and my line rental saver will stay in place?
Anyone know what gives here?
Cheers,
Rob
