The Slow Deterioration Of My Broadband Speed

I wonder if I'm the only person who hasn't moved to BT Infinity....who's been getting this :-

After years of slow speeds barely getting above 2mb, by last year my speed had increased quite nicely and was regularly running at 4.5mb.....which is fine for me. I'd regularly be able to watch BBC iPlayer documentaries in HD, which requires at least 3.5mb.

The main increase in speed came around the time BT Infinity was being offered, but I didn't go for it as it is actually more expensive. But....since sticking with the old ADSL, my speed has gradually crept down over the months. In fact it is months since I had 4.5mb. It seldom even gets above 3.5mb now.....and in the past month has fallen even further, and is right now around 2.5mb

I am suspicious about this....whether it is a deliberate ploy to force people to move to BT Infinity.

That's a fair few errors for only 25 minutes of connection. What do they look like when the router is connected to the test jack within the NTE ? Is there any noise on your line ?

yes, you should be getting about 4.5 Mag.

Have you removed ring wire?

What are stats when you plug in test socket behind master socket faceplate?

4.5meg, that's a little optimistic on a 52db line. 3.5 to 4 maybe.

Maybe! Kitz says so & OP did for some time. So something broke!

I manage a 4.5-5.5 Mb sync on a 54 db line, I'd say 4.5 is certainly possible on a 52 db line.

4.5 meg is what I got for quite some time....and long periods connected.

What's odd is that my connection is 'dissconnecting' more frequently now, yet the lights on the router still show everything as if connected. Whereas I used to go spells of 60 days without a disconect, its now more like 3 or 4 days.

And throughout all this, the average connection speed just gets lower and lower.

Kay, point taken. The OP needs to contact the CP and see if he qualifies for a fault to be raised for LTB (lower threshold breached)
