If I sign up for a 12 or 18 month contract, what happens at the end of the contract, do I have to sign up for another 12/18 months or does it move to 1 month contract? Couldn't find this info on bt.com.
Thanks

It is a bit confusing about the 12/18 month contract terms. What happens is there is minimum term for the contract which means that within that time you may incur penalties if you try to leave.
Once that term is up you just run as normal paying month by month and you will be able to leave without penalty but you will most likely need to give them 1 months notice.

Be aware they may offer you some minor 'free' upgrade, and forget to mention that it involves starting a new 12/18 month contract.

Yes, this happened to me years ago. I was offered a discount of £2 per month, which then tied me into another 12 month contract.

Thanks everyone.

If I sign up for a 12 or 18 month contract, what happens at the end of the contract They aren't Fixed Term contracts; they are Minimum Term contracts. You just carry on as normal; free to leave upon giving a short notice, usually about 1 month.

I've a feeling phone contracts are 12-month renewing though aren't they? Or is it just the call options that are?

I thought auto renewing contracts were now banned, if that's what you are referring to.
Yes, Line Rental Saver is a 12 month fixed contract. All other line rentals and Call Plans are normally ongoing, but you might want to negotiate a new contract if you can get better terms, as I might when my 12 month Anytime Plan discount expires .
Anyway I thought we were talking here about BT BB.

Anyway I thought we were talking here about BT BB. Which is force-bundled with the phone. Hence my question.

I expect they are all bundled under the same 12 or 18 month Min Term contract.

Is there anywhere in the BT account online that shows you how long left in your minimum term contract?
My mum has been with BTB for ages, it is [censored], she gets dreadful performance, has had terrible CS and i want her to change but she still keeps saying she was told by BT she was still locked into a contract.
She's a bit of a push over on the phone sometimes, so they could convince her of anything.

I had to call the 3rd world to find out mine.

For Phone it is: My BT => My Phone => Upgrade your Calling Plan => Change your Calling Plan. This tells you your current Plan and its dates.
I imagine there is similar for My BB, but I don't have that.
