The product is pretty good on the whole.
The service is pretty bad, though the forum mods usually get things fixed.

Moved (with trepidation turned relief) to BT Infinity 2 for upload speed. Happy BE user for several years.

Is BT any good now the traffic management has been scrapped?

I've never noticed any traffic management and I've been a customer since Sept last year; so it really depends what you use your connection for.

Coming from BE where I had a good connection with static IP, the only thing I miss is the static IP. The rest of the service is equally as good, or better, as you'd expect from a much larger organisation. As you'd be coming from VM, you should find things a lot better.

Don't ask me about the HomeHub as I swapped that out as soon as the engineer left, for my own Draytek 2820 router - any "cable" router can work with the Openreach modem as long as it does PPPoE.

James BT Infinity 2 19/09/2012 - Estimate 44.6/6.5 - Install 52/12 - Actual 46 / 8 Mbps
Huawei VDSL -> Draytek router -> Apple Airport Extreme -> Belkin Switch -> Windows/Mac/Linux/NAS/Phone
13 years of broadband - 1999 ntl:(512k/1M)/BTbusiness(2M)/Metronet(2M)/Bulldog(8M/16M)/BE(19M/16M)/BT FTTC(46M)

agreed its all good apart from the static ip issue.

The ip issue has even led me to using a firmware I probably wouldnt be using if I had a static ip.

BT Infinity 2 Since Dec 2012 - Estimate 65.9/20 - Attainable peak 110/36 - Current Sync 71/20
