Are four flash tester results which show the 9Mbps upload - And the line has a 20Mbps sync, max achievable of over 24Mbps

Then it sounds as if that line has the problem you mentioned in the other thread, that I wasn't aware of.

James BT Infinity 2 19/09/2012 - Estimate 44.6/6.5 - Install 52/12 - Actual 46 / 8 Mbps

It did.

The reason I asked for the OPs Task Manager plots which along with sync speed can help to say if he is hitting a cap or line maximum.

Or security software is doing something funky - or poor wireless - or other users. Lots of in-home reasons too :-/

I think my line is approximately one mile from the exchange.

I am using a Mac, but I have VMware installed which runs Windows 8 (for legacy software). I know the accuracy under that configuration of the speed test is questionable, but here are the results:

I am on the 76/19 package. BT's estimated speeds on the welcome letter were 50.8 and 13.2.

I have a Mac, no more task manager for me smile

So, downstream is a little low, but nothing to really complain about.

Upstream - significantly lower than estimate. Is the result consistent - that is near identical everytime? And what about on other speedtesters?

Which modem do you have ? ECI or Huawei? If a Huawei - is it unlocked so you can see the stats?

You mention 1 mile from the exchange - but what is the distance from the cabinet that feeds you?

The upstream result is very consistent, between 9-10Mbps since day 1, using different speed tests.

I am using the Draytek Vigor 2850vn both as modem and router (i.e. I have put away the white box that BT supplied, and HH3).

Not sure about the distance to actual cabinet.

The Mac I have performed all tests on has an ethernet connection to the router, it's not connected via WiFi.
