BT Infinity Speed

I had BT Infinity 2 for a few days now, do you think the following speeds are good (average speeds shown, performed a few tests at different days/times)?

Speeedtest.net: Download 45-46Mbps, Upload 9-10Mpbs, Ping 16-19ms
BT Speedtest: Download 45-46Mbps, Upload 9-10Mbps, Ping 20-25ms

BT Speedtest reports IP Profiles of 47.41 downstream and 20Mbps upstream.

Using a Draytek Vigor 2850vn instead of the BT supplied modem and HH3.

I did get download speeds of 51Mpbs on the first day when I performed the first couple of tests.

They are pretty reasonable for an ok line.
What was your estimate (at http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/products/broad... )?
What do you see as a profile ( http://speedtester.bt.com/ then go on to 'Further Diagnostics')?

If those more or less agree with the speeds you are seeing, then probably all about right. It the estimate and/or profile are much higher than the speeds you are seeing, then it will be worth looking further.

Also try http://myspeed.visualware.com/index.php for upload speed tests. It has been rubbish for download speed tests recently, but seems to give the most reliable upload tests (eg in keeping with real speeds to a good upload site).

What package ore you on? 80/20 or 80/10 or to use the marketing terminology 76/19 or 76/9 ?

I would guess from your BT test it is an 80/20 connection.

If so, the downstream seems fine, but the upstream is way under performing. And may have a problem that others have had.

Can you run a series of speed tests, first of all a BT test and then 4 or5 on TBB with Task Manager running on the Networking tab. Take a ScreenPrint of Task manager and then host the image. If I can see that along with your test results, it will tell me if you have an upstream issue.

If he is on any of those packages his result is terrible! It looks more like a 50Mb connection. My connection is 100/10. This is the result I always get.

Infinity depends greatly on the distance to the street cabinet, which Virgin Media cable does not.

Thanks for the heads up. I was interested in Infinity because of their up speeds. Not so sure now.

It looks like another "stuck at 10Mbps" problem. They do seem to be cropping up quite often.

BT Infinity don't do 50 Meg. There is no comparison with VM.

I wonder if that's just the line characteristics, the OP is getting pretty similar performance to myself , 45 download and 8.9 upload. BT Infinity unlimited is always the openreach 80/20 product. The BT Infinity option 1 with 40gb usage is the 40/10 product.
