disconnection query

Not sure if this is the right place to post.
I'm on Infinity, if I switch off my router but leave my modem on, will my cabinet equipment see that as a disconnection or since my modem is connected will it not "notice" anything amiss?

The cabinet is only interested in the connection to the modem. Turning off the router should make no difference to the connection back to the cab/exchange.

If I switch off my modem once a week for 24 hours will that make any difference to my download/synch speeds when I reconnect later?

Shouldn't make any difference. A lot of disconnects in a short time are seen as a problem but one a week for any period should not be an issue.

The only thing I am aware of was that a colleague with BT went on holiday for a week and when he came back his speeds on FTTC were in the gutter. But, after using the connection for a couple of days the speeds came back up again - he had looked on the web and it seemed other people were getting similar.
