Anyone Migrated to BT Copper From Another ISP?

I like to hear from anyone who has. What was your line speed prior to & post migration?

I moved from BE Pro ADSL2 to BT Business ADSL2. Much more expensive, but I am not going back to Sky. Ever.
Download sync much the same (very good as I am on a short Exchange Only line).
Download throughput slightly better.
Upload sync and download as good as can be expected for non-Annex M (8-(

I changed from O2 to BT early last year.

I didn't record the specific details, at the time, but my speeds were nominally increased after the change-over.

NB:- if it is relevant, I'm fairly close to the Exchange & get approx 19M d/l.

I'm on a long line & currently getting 4Mbs from Zen. My concern is that BT only estimate 1-3Mbs & I know from experience that if only the lower figure is provided, BT consider that as acceptable. So it seems to require a leap of faith to commit to a 12 month contract when I could potentially lose 75% of my speed with no redress. That's why I'm looking for real world experience of migration.

You should do a Quiet Line Test, to ensure that your PHONE line itself is in good condition.

As you can do the QLT at no cost and in your own time, it is well worth dong before deciding on any change of ISP etc.

And it will also benefit FTTC/VDSL etc as well.

Also you should do a QLT about every year or shorter, particularly during and after spells of bad weather' and that you have a long line which is likely to be more susceptible to related problems.

I moved from Eclipse to BT.
Using Homehub 4 my speed has reduced from 12M to 10.5M download and 1.2M to 1M upload on 32dB downstream attenuation.
I believe this is down to the HH4 reserving part of bandwidth for Wifi hotspot use.
However, I was having stability problems with Eclipse, I have no problems with stability now. At my speeds the difference is outweighed by stability ( No more " this page cannot be displayed" )

It does not reserve anything for WiFi hotspot use. It is used "on-demand" up to a maximum level. There may be a few "keep alive" and management packets used but that is all.

This could be true but as my Belkin Surf will give 12M down and 1.2M Up but I believe, maybe wrongly, this negates Wifi hotspot use.
