BTW Performance Test

I have run the above test on my connection. I see the following reported at the bottom of the results screen


The test result has indicated that you should contact your ISP for further assistance


Any ideas why? Is it because my actual upload is half that of the profile?

It's because your minimum download rate should be 60Mbps. Is that test over a wired connection or wifi?

This particular test was run over wifi, however I have run the same test over a wired connection with similar results.


I've never had a download rate of 60Mbps since moving to BT. Its always been around 43-45 Mbps. The upload speed has always been around 10Mbps. When I moved to BT the estimated speeds were 60Mbps/20Mbps when I placed my order.

Surely it's because the download result is less than the minimum figure of the acceptable range ?

The minimum is 60, the maximum is the IP Profile

There's not much of a difference between the minimum figure in the acceptable range and what is being achieved.

I only ran the test as my download speed seemed to drop to 3Mbps between 6-10pm over the last couple of nights. Back to normal now though.

I think I'll ask the question of BT, see what they say. You never know they may be able to get me some faster speeds

Just a bit of information. The upstream IP Profile on an 80/20 (76/??) is always set to 20Mbps. The downstream IP Profile is 0.9679 x your connection speed, so divide the IP Profile by 0.9679 and you get your connection speed with a few kbps.

Note the upstream bar is green, the downstream red. Both should be green.

I totally missed the fact that the bar was red, indicating an issue.
