HH4 and Galaxy phones

Not sure what is going on but I find I cannot wifi to my HH4 with two phones; more the case that they each will only connect one way.

My Galaxy S2 will only connect via 2.4GHz and my wife's Galaxy S3 mini will only connect via 5GHz!!

I have renamed the 5GHz SSID by adding "-5GHz" to the supplied name.

BTW they both connect at 2.4GHz via an ASUS WAP attached to the HH4.

However as they both now connect some way I am not too worried.

Things may be getting worse. Now my S2 will not connect on 2.4GBHz unless I remove security i.e. leave connection open.

Will do more checks when time permits; reboot does seem not make any difference.

Have you tried changing the channel the router is using? I have occasionally found in the past that can fix this particular issue.

My Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II connects fine to our HH4, my sister had issues with her apple devices, but after s few tries got those working fine.

Here is what I have set for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz...

I have set the SSID the same as well as both keys/passwords.

I second a channel change. Choose 1 6 or 11 only

Try them all out. It's likely this is the issue and the samsung phones are just a bit more sensitive to the interference than say a laptop.

I tried all those channels, it was on 3, but it made no difference.

One thing I have noticed is that Wifi-Analyzer shows that the Tab 2 is more sensitive that the G2 phone; I know that app is only a guide but it gives an indication. The Tab 2 is some 7dBm stronger than the G2 when both placed alongside each other and very near the HH4.

The Tab 2 and my wife's Tab 2 still logon to the HH4 without difficulty but my G2 and her G3 mini still do not.

Until a few days ago my G" also used the HH4 when I was near it. Fortunately the ASUS covers more of the house.

A tablet ought to be more sensitive than a phone because they have a larger area and therefore can install a more sensitive antenna. Laptops also can be better as they can install the aerial around the screen for better receiption.

If I turn off WPA & WPA2 I can connect easily. WPA2 or WPA on there own do not work with my G2 either.

Only "None"!

Interesting that last evening I was trying to help someone with a Tab 3 and Wifi-Analyzer showed that its sensitivity was less than my G2 phone. So in order I read Tab 2, G2 and then Tab 3.

Haven't looked at the specs but maybe the tab 3 has more network frequencies it is supporting and therefore has more antennas which then makes it more difficult to get the antennas to be sensitive enough.

Some phones saw this - once you have antennas for a number of mobile frequencies (800Mhz, 900Mhz, 1.8Ghz, etc) plus 2.4Ghz wifi and 5Ghz wireless and of course 2.4Ghz Bluetooth and who knows what else you are looking at a lot of different frequencies for picking up a signal.

EDIT: And perhaps they knocked back the signal power to lengthen battery life...
