I'm out of contract on my existing Plusnet subscription. Have to say I've been very happy with them, never had any issues (apart from their suipplied Thomson router which has now died)
However the BT BB Black Friday offer seems too good to be true. For the same price as my existing Plusnet (after cashback) I could get BT Sport for free, a £100 Sainsbury voucher and a free BT Home Hub 5
Before I sign up, would appreciate any info; is there anything worse on BT BB (or missing)_ ? I believe BT BB is also truly unlimited downloads and no shaping. Do there block any ports ? Plusnet provide fixed IP for a one-off £5 charge.
Would appreciate any advice asap, as I have to signup today !
Thanks

I wouldnt move to BT if they blocked downloading. For example Usenet, Bittorrent, IRC, and any other p2p.
I'm confused by that thread about blocked websites - I'm assuming thats only for, extreme porn and other illegal such sites. Its not to do with copyright material ?

Several large ISPs have been forced to remove access to lots of sites accused of copyright infringement.

Only if they apply to them. That list apparently doesn't. This has been know for a couple of years or so.

Just went through the thread and noticed that a BT customer complained that Warez-bb is blocked. I've just tried it on my existing Plusnet account and it seems fine.
I've neever used it but seems to be worrying, what else will BT block ?
I guess thats the advantage of a 'smaller' ISP, they are less likely to get hit with orders to block sites ? But how do I know what is blocked on BT ?!? I won't know until I migrate !
Anyone know if they block usenet, BitTorrent etc ?

Can you load http://thepiratebay.org/ on Plusnet?

Really strange, tried it 6 times, 3 times it got through and now its not !?!?
I guess the only to do would be to place the order tonight ( it expires tonight) and in the next couple of days take my laptop to mates place and see if/what is blocked. If it is blocked, can always cancel.
Anyway, know if they block usenet/irc/bittorent ?
