Hi,
It seems my PS4 has a speed cap at about 20mbps on BT Infinity, I have tried different Routers, DNS Servers, Wired/Wireless and even a different PS4, I just can't seem to hit over 20mbps.
Even when I do the PS4 Connection Speed Test, I get 22mbps.
Anyone with a PS4 and BT Infinity have the same issue.
My Speed:

Any Idea what the issue is.
Thanks

Is the PS4 connected via wired or wireless? 20Mb/s sounds pretty much what you would expect on a wireless g connection.

Hmm, I am getting full speed on your speed tester.
Don't know why I can't seem to get that on download speeds on PSN.

Time to get more people on PS4 to test if you can.
It may be a peering issue between BT and PSN, i.e. not all locations on the Internet are linked by the same levels of connectivity.

Im not on BT but Aquiss and its similar. After Sony released firmware 2.0 I cant hit maximum, but can when ps4 is in stand by mode. To compare I own Xbox One as well as PS4 and speeds on my X1 are always maxing my connection which is 9MB/s. One more thing JB68, try downloading in stand by mode, when Im dowloading in this mode speeds are where they should be, strange but thats how its like in my case.

Just an update:
Still haven't got this sorted, 500kb/s speeds 99% of the time.
Tried contracting Sony, they say it might be BT fault and tried BT, can't get anywhere with them.
Feel like changing ISP.

the same occurs on plusnet, the fix?
use a proxy server or VPN.
I know the ps3 allows a proxy to be used, since I dont get my ps4 until tomorrow I dont know if that allows the same.

I don't get my full speed on PS4 network. I get around 47mb's.. I'm usually at 63mb's usually.
There is a couple of things you could try;
1. Have you tried temporary disabling your anti virus program and then selecting to test connection on the ps4's network settings mention?
2. Though I haven't had to open any ports myself, these are the ports to open for the playstation network;

When you do test the speed using the ps4 (Go to Settings -> Network -> Test Internet Connection) what speed does it say?
Some things I've done was to turn off UPNP on the router. I've never liked UPNP and it has caused problems in the past with games.
I'm connected via a Lan cable. I setup the IP address manually, giving my ps4 a static ip address. The MTU is set to 1492, and NAT type is 2.

ok I did some more digging after getting the same issue with my ps4.
I found a few things out although I cant say this is 100% accurate as my info is based on what I read on other sites such as neogaf.
The first thing is the wifi interface on the ps4 is not very good, its 2.4ghz only and seems to struggle to even match comparable 2.4ghz devices, so if using wifi you probably wont get great speds anyway.
However with that in mind my initial speeds still were way below what 2.4ghz can do and seemed to be rate limited to 3-5mbit/sec. Neogaf users were suggesting after the 2.10 update speeds plummeted and I noticed people were reporting success by using their own isp's dns servers (my proxy didnt help). When I reverted to plusnet's dns servers (my isp) speeds improved a lot although still wasnt great, I now am probably hitting the 2.4 wifi performance ceiling.
So an educated guess is this, sony have throttled all the generic download servers and only local isp cache servers can get the unthrottled speeds. Sioo if using google or opendns switch back to BT's dns servers. If using wifi switch to wired.
This is only an educated guess tho.

I use wireless but never get the full speeds either. I've always assumed it's the wireless ceiling but every other decide in the same spot manages.
I'm on Sky.
I think it's just the ps4 network and honestly most people won't overly analyse it.

Speed test result in PS4 browser using thinkbroadband.com speed tester...
Result
Speed test using PS4's built in network connection tester...
Result
Suggests an issue with PSN or the built in speed test - which seems to happen in a split second - so maybe it isn't particularly accurate.

that built in speedtester is completly useless I can tell by how quick it completes the data it downloads is far too small.
Please read my previous post for a possible reason.
