Is this a possible Muticast setup?

At the moment I have a HH5, which belongs in the bin, the Wi-Fi is that bad!

Connected to LAN1 is a Cat5 running to my BT TV box and it works just fine.

Connected to LAN2 is a Cat5 running upstairs to my Linksys EA6900 802.11ac router, everything else is connected to this wither over Wi-Fi or Cat5, and it works just fine

Could i replace the HH5 with an unlocked HG612 set up in Routing mode, with the BT TV on LAN1 and the Cat5 to the Linksys on LAN2.

Thus allowing me to ditch the HH5, everything stays connected via the EA6900 and therefore works.

At present having the firewall on the HH5 and the EA6900 is causing me some issues in accessing my NAS from outside the network, so would like to simplify the setup a bit.

Any reason you cannot run the Linksys in access point mode, i.e. turn off its routing functionality

I have a HH5A and get constantly 74mb/19mb on speedtests over Wifi with my MacBook Pro - never drops out and always fast. Don't know why so many say the wireless isn't good on the HH's

Type A or B ??

Also depends on the wireless environment... I've found some equipment to work better in other places rather than others...

I find the HH's have favourite channels and if they can't use them they act like brats, specially if they want a channel that another router has been set manually too...

I want to avoid having an extra router in the mix and the wirless speeds i can achieve in my 802.11ac PCI card with the Linksys are nothing short of impressive, so would like to keep that if possible.

Cant get anything above 5mbps on the HH5, Not sure if it's A or B.

Where i am I can see about 35+ SSID's so I think the BT is struggling with interference, something that has never bothered the Linksys

It says on the label on the bottom of the HH5 if it's a Type A or a Type B. Also the web gui says it at the bottom of every page.

The Billion is a modem/router just like the HG612 is, but you may be able to copy the settings given for multicast on the Billion to the HG612 with few changes.

I have set the Linksys up as a Bridge for now, does seem to be achieving what I was hoping for. Can't believe I didn't think of it sooner!

the HH is a Type A, not sure if the B's are any better, but the A is terrible here for throughput.

My Aim is to be able to mount my NAS using SMB from work for file transfer.
