Social Media seems to be full of comments that BT Broadband is suffering from a national outage.
Is it really the whole of the UK thats down?
And if so anyone know why?

Yes, a lot of people seem to be down who are with BT. We have two lines; one with Enta and one with BT. The BT line is down while the Enta one is up.
Accessing the BT Status page on our Enta line doesn't work. So it appears as though BT is down; even as far up as Scotland.

Virgin Media's ridiculously rubbish upload connection (2014 - Present): 152/12Mbps

My broadband can't get authentication on BT's systems so won't connect, the MY BT apps on phone won't login and BT site also down...

I have two lines, one FTTC with Zen (via BT Wholesale) and one ADSL with BT.
My BT ADSL modem won't authenticate.
Even the BT service status website appears to be down.
Zen via BT Wholesale is fine.

Hearing from a colleague that his BT connections are still up but lots and lots of reports on Twitter from all over the country stating their BT connection is down, so if not 100%, it's still a pretty significant problem.

Mine is working or I couldn't be posting this.

Broadband will remain connected, its those that disconnect for some reason that will not be able to reconnect.

It's working just fine here in sunny Oxfordshire...

Not as clear cut as that.
My DSL was in sync and was logged into internet but wouldn't resolve any web sites or ping any IP addresses. When I rebooted router, I then got sync but internet wouldn't authenticate.
It may have been that the DNS settings in the modem were using BT's DNS servers and the ones set on my modem are not responding. Maybe those using other DNS settings remain connected and working OK?

Im down here. It wont get an ip lease.

Only one that doesn't work for me is Sainsbury's, the rest are fine. It may be a different issue altogether.

At least some of this seems to be fixed now, but I've no intention of dropping my broadband to see if it will re-authenticate.

Hmm..
there seems to be routing issues going on. Some sites can't be loaded up.
I'm assuming this is normal.
My PS4 also can't connect to the net either. I'm assuming its trying to connect to the PSN.

Very possibly, we are seeing more BT users testing their connection, so it could be people are unsure if its their connection or BT, and detail on the fault is thin on the ground so could be that a chunk of the network is still not up, i.e. they've got basic connections up but still working on getting things back to 100%.

My Hub was saying that it could authenticate but was failing to receive a configuration from BT!

According to Openreach engineer I spoke to last week that's a daily occurrence (at least around this way anyway)

I know I have been having routing issues for the last couple of days where the RS Components site was up and down more times than a kid with a yoyo.
And it seems like it was worse tonight.

Must be a very heavy and securely fixed high up yoyo to make a kid go up and down .
