if its not available for 35 quid they can shove it i'll go 3rd party. Well I would expect it for free going by how rubbish the HH4 has been for us and what I have also heard for 5.
I have only been using our replacement HH4 due to our fubar broadband connection, and BT Support always asking for it to be connected.
Else I would be using my FRITZ!Box 3390.

Why would anyone buy BT branded junk especially for FTTC/H ?
|
|
Yes, I sure won't buy it... I would also be expecting this to replace poor performing HH5('s)

Why would anyone buy BT branded junk especially for FTTC/H ? I never said anything about buying any BT Home Hubs, both HH4 we have were both free, however I still prefer my FRITZ!Box 3390.
Like I have already said I am stuck using our BT HH4 due to our line issues and BT always requiring their HH to be connected to the line while they do their tests.
Also I don't think the HH6 is for FTTC or FTTP, I am thinking its for their new G.FAST Product, I am thinking this due to nearly every site I have read that spoke about the HH6 was referring it with G.FAST etc.
Also the specs for the HH6 seems over the top for FTTC/P, like its Wi-Fi is over the top also.
It will still probably work on FTTC/P, but I think its more designed for G.FAST.
However when ever BT pulls their fingers out their backside and finishes off our FTTP install which was/is still part of the Commercial upgrade, I will have to buy a new Modem/Router for that due to my FRITZ!Box isn't fast enough for FTTP (330/30) speeds, or if it is its on the borders of it.
But as for buying a BT Home Hub, I don't think so, especially with their fortnightly forced reboot, where as with my FRITZ!Box it never did any, so my guesses with that is the BT Modems/Routers are a pile of poop.

I would also be expecting this to replace poor performing HH5('s) I know I wont be buying any, also like I already said in my other reply, I think its designed for their G.FAST Product, it might still work for FTTC/P products, but will probably be just a waste of hardware, but saying that, it just means it wouldn't have to work hard to do stuff on the slower connections etc.

Have you seen the specs for the HH6 - if so, could you share?
I doubt it's designed for use especially for g.fast use though - Openreach won't properly rollout g.fast until 2017 and at the moment the chipsets from different manufacturers are so immature that they are not currently compatible with each other.
As such, I fully expect Openreach to provide the g.fast modem via engineer installs when they first launch with no self install option for a couple of years.

this is it maybe?
it was used in the Gfast trials along side others.
Just need a BT stamp on it and away we go.

Doubt that is the HH6 too industrial looking for the marketing people

Just need a BT stamp on it and away we go. That wasn't what I saw, but that looks nice, the one I saw showed loads of stats, like the Wi-Fi speeds, total bandwidth the device could handle etc, and that was way over the top for FTTC, basically it looked tailor made for a 1Gbps connection.
I looked in my browsers history, but it seems that Edge clears all the useful stuff and leaves all the trash yo don't want LOL

Lack of wireless in that beast may also be an issue.

Lack of wireless in that beast may also be an issue. I thought I read 1.7Gbps over wireless, or are you referring to the one in the link.

I feel like this may be the Hub where they finally combine their 4G spectrum with their ADSL and VDSL products.
Also, this one doesn't HAVE to support G.fast. We aren't expecting a commercial G.Fast launch until this time next year or later. So they could easily bring out another hub after the 6 that would support G.fast.

Some way of using 4G to top up slow broadband speed would be a good idea.
|
|
I've seen it and it looks similar to this in size, its twice as big as the HH5

You mean like you've been able to do with dual WAN devices such as a number of Asus routers for a while. How useful the configuration is I don't know as not tried living with it.

I wasn't aware this was available on any other routers, that's interesting.
They own a small amount of 4G spectrum on an unusual band through a company they own and I think that was the plan for it. However now that they own EE it might be different. I think they might now be using the original spectrum they bought for femtocells anyway, for business users.

Sorry, updated the link : https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-0/s480x4... That' sort of looks like one of the images that I saw the other day, Edge decided of forgetting all my browser history that I wanted to remember and kept the ones I didn't LOL

It looks like a bluetooth speaker... Also where is the nice big, blingy blue light? Hopefully it will flash like the virginmedia superhub version 1 did.
What's the wireless AC speed on this?
|
|
Trial are over, the picture was posted on another forum
|
|
No 4G capability. Built in ADSL/VDSL. No G.FAST modem, possibly need a setup like the old hub 3 on VDSL with the modem plugged into the WAN.
|
|
No not this one, this was specifically made got G.FAST trials for engineers to trial in ruggedised boxes.
|
|
Has the blue light like other models which also flashes other fancy colours when syncing up. Can also dim it using the hub settings similar to the HH5
|
|
Any speedtests?

Original aim was to use some 4G maybe with fixed antenna to deliver rural broadband, i.e. not unlike what UK Broadband (PCCW/Relish) are doing

Well if it's not in this next Hub then I'm sure it'll be in the one after. I think that's what they're trying to achieve.
