Suggests somehow only one wire is working, same lead as usual? Dirty connector on DSL socket?

Yeah that's what I was thinking. However, apart from hub, everything same as before. Smart hub doesn't even come with a phone cable. Just hub and power lead.

Doesn't come with a cable? Sounds like you got a returned one.

Use the Ginp Formula to determine if your vdsl2 connection is with or without G.INP.
Divide your IP Profile by your Sync Speed and the answer is 0.9669 (with) or 0.9679 (without)

I did think it was a bit strange that it came with no cable. The box was sealed in the clear plastic though.

There must be a lot of returned ones out there then as everyone I've spoken to have said that when they got their new Smart Hub there is no DSL or Ethernet cable included

They do not come in the box - I have just had it confirmed from BT support. I'm on with them now.

So how do new customers plug them in?

They guy I'm talking to doesn't seem to be too clued up but he said the first ones are for existing customers hence the lack of phone lead.

He hasn't got a clue to be honest. He asked me what I was using before - told him the Huawei HG612. He then said to unplug that and plug in Smart Hub. I told him I already had and that was the whole reason I'm on with him. The call continues . . . .

I'm sure it will work if you plug the Hub into the HG612 using ethernet wink

I just got disconnected and when I reconnected, I'm back at 60Mbps which is what I was at before I joined BT in April from Plusnet.

Asked what he did and he said an SNR reset.

Hahaha that's what I thought!

I reckon I had a noob on the other end that din't know he wasn't allowed to admit to being able to do 'technical' things wink

Still weird that plugging in the Smart Hub caused this but I'm happy my speed is back. Now to see if there's any way to get DslStats working with it. I'm pretty sure I know the answer frown

There's no WAN port by design on the FTTC model. Whether there is a way round it to configure, idk.

I think Port 4 can be used as a WAN port - not tested it though.

The Smart Hub's should definately come with the usual collection of leads and filter etc..

If I bought a new one, I would expect all leads etc to get it working.

What are you expecting, leads or not?

To be honest No I wasn't expecting to get leads as it's an existing customer offer.

But then I wouldn't use them anyway because they'll be rubbing flat cables and I prefer twisted cat5e.

Of course, BT could have taken the opportunity to upgrade to UTP RJ11 cables - yeah right.

But at least we know they can do an SNR reset now smile

Unless they just reset the config variables on the smart hub and then tell it to reboot, they can do that and that might change the sync speeds.

That's a good point.

I got interrupted here while I was reading the posts, my bad tongue

If they "can" do that, its a good thing to know, I am still trying to get BT to push the live switch for the lines on our FTTP hardware that is already live for only 1 address 4 doors down, where we all keep being told that the hardware is not ready...

So maybe this along with not being able to reset the DLM is more of BT's lies that they like saying.

I'd still be inclined to say that CPs cannot do an SNR reset. They could escalate it to Openreach and request an SNR reset though.
