Worth upgrading HH3 to other router or another HH ?

one reason to change the HH3 is the fact it needs the openreach modem as well for the connection.
I can free up a mains socket to use and probably save power?

what is the best option?

I'm well out of contract... (years out) got infinity2

connection is stable too.

Definitely worth upgrading the 3 .......

(much) Improved wireless. The built in VDSL modem on the linked product will out perform your current VDSL modem, all good stuff.

£11 quid on the Bay of Fleas ?

When I moved over to BT in January they sent me a HH4 (ADSL not VDSL). I soon encountered random reboots and other issues which many have reported. Many recommend TP-Link products which work fine. I ended up with a Billion 8800NL R2 (£60 ish) which is working fine and even gives me IPv6 which the HH4 (and certainly not your HH3) does not. Both the TP and Billion ones are dual VDSL/ADSL.

I bought a HH6 from auction site. Better wireless coverage than my HH5 and IPv6 as well.
Plug in and go, never had a problem so far.

Lots on offer take your pick!

Depends on Budget

TP-Link are very good, Billion, ZyXEL are other well respect names.

Just make sure it's a VDSL router!

People have poor experiences with the Home Hubs from BT, only thing is.. that's all they will support via the phone.

My HH3 has been pretty rock solid for the several years I have used it with maybe a reboot needed occasionally after months of a 24/7 connection.

If you want the very best modem/router and don't mind paying for it then one of the Netgear D7800, Billion 8900AX, Asus DSL-AC88U or TP Link VR2800 will give you top class performance (all are 4 stream) a million miles away from the Home Hub 3.

However if you don't want to spend too much then something link the Netgear D6400, Billion 8800NL or Tp Link VR900v2 will still beat the HH3 for performance. Stay away from Zyxel routers as the wifi range on them is nothing special and they're not cheap either.

I currently have the Huawei HG612 - do you think this is good enough for now? I'm concerned that as it's pretty old, it would die soon.

Assuming it does, what is a good modem out there? I don't need WiFi as I have UniFi USG & WiFi networking set up already. Just a modem...
