Fibre packages not available in FTTP post code

[link to this post]

Openreach recently launched FTTP connections in my friend's post code - a post code check provides the following on the Openreach:

Great news. More reliable, future-proof and faster Full Fibre (Fibre to the Premises - FTTP) is available today at this postcode.

The problem is that when he goes to any ISP, such as BT or Vodfaone, no FTTP packages are displayed when his post code is entered.

Why would this be?

He has - the post code allows you to select your address. Same problem.

In reply to a post by MCM:

Wholesale has an issue at the moment, I can only do lookups by using NAD Key's and District ID's, full address checks fail with:
"We are sorry but the checker is unavailable at the moment. Please try again later."

All that is offered to me on the BT Site is Superfast Fibre 2 @ 74Mbit, its been like that for 5 to 7 days now, the issue at Wholesale has also put some of us upgrading on hold (i.e. open order).

So their issue might be linked to that.

Only in the Address option! The Post Code option specifically says it doesn't work for FTTP smile

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.

I'm not using the By Wholesale site, I'm using BT.com and the Vodafone website to check the address. in fact no ISP shows me their FTTP packages.

Vodafone won't show availability as they don't officially set FTTP yet

As for BT.com it is possible that the Openreach stuff is done and just waiting on BT Wholesale

Have you tried ISP such as Zen Internet or IDNet?

Probably hasnt filtered down to other ISP's - as for BT they have taken the products off their website because of the current situation as they cant install any FTTP.

Vodafone does have FTTP packages. At present no ISP is showing me full fibre offers, only Openreach confirms I am in an FTTP area.

Vodafone is not in a pubic manner selling the Openreach FTTP packages. It has a FTTP range called Gigafast but that is over the CityFibre network.

e.g. BS14 8ER where Vodafone is signed up to eventually sell Openreach FTTP (Bristol) and nothing shows on Vodafone site.

Given the postcode can go have a look at what is appearing.

Also with the hold on new FTTP installs apart from possibly for keyworker situations some providers are not showing the option.

With the Coronavirus situation there's a few issues and I guess it's due to lack of staff in certain department(s) at this time, particularly at BT Wholesale.

I did a regrade on FTTP with an ISP recently, not BT Consumer/Retail, and I was surprised when they told me it'll take 7 to 10 working days for a mere change in the speed. That was not long before BT's website no longer mentioned FTTP availability at my address and that BT Wholesale's checker for the address stopped working entirely. I also read recently that apparently BT Wholesale has an office in India that handles things like FTTP regrades, and that there's nobody there at the moment. Some others have reported delayed regrades with BT Retail recently, compared to the expected 24-48 hours that some early on received.

On another ISP's website, their checker is still showing I can get FTTP 1000/220 at my address interestingly, and they check with BT Wholesale and TalkTalk Business (TTB shows as unavailable which I expected).

Thanks for the reply, didn't know that about Vodafone.

I've discovered the issue:
https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2020/03/major-...

ISPs have removed FTTP from their pages as likely none of this will be done until the virus outbreak is receding.

Realted to this since, immediately before the doodaa hit the wotsit Openreach subbies were scurrying around laying fibre, how is this map to be interpreted?

https://labs.thinkbroadband.com/local/broadband-map#...

My house is in the green, but not one of the circles.

The circles are centred on the centre point of a postcode, if you search by postcode it should put marker onto the right cirle.

Or you could use https://labs.thinkbroadband.com/local/postcode-search which will give a text interpretation when you search by postcode
