The 83 looks a little better, but I would still expect more with a 10dB attenuation. If tgat is true, I might suggest your 50m is a little low and the cabke is not on te most direct route. the 6,0 max 8.3 up is certainly low.

MHC, you are correct, I under estimated the distances. Apologies.

BTW checkers says he is on cabinet 49. Magenta gives a postcode which is further away - and when I click on the postcode, Magenta says postcode not found. Royalmail says the postcode exists and serves 4 properties. Dad has always said the cabinet is at the top of the street. Using StreetView, I can see the cabinets at the top of the street. The PSTN DP has 49 on it and across the road is the ECI cabinet. Measuring within StreetView, going via pole, shows DP at 84m and ECI at 97.

Looks like the magenta data is slightly incorrect.

Don't worry, how often does it get significantly underestimated - even on straight line.

By the time you take in, links, up te pole, coils in chambers drop wire &c &c you are probably up to 120m and that is more likely given the line and signal attenuation figures along with downstream max achievable.

When you get to te house, unplug and replug all the connectors, maybe, if you are confident, remove face plates to look for loose wires, look for any damage along the run from original to new location.

Thanks for the comments, and an update.

OR spent around 2 hours on site. NTE5 -> internal extension wiring - > soap dish connection -> top of drop wire connection were checked out. No fault in the internal wiring. Some old connections in the soap dish and top of drop wire were renewed. NTE5 changed as well.

Engineer noted a strange hum on the quiet line test. He said he hadn't heard similar. Perhaps it is some interference from the CCTV recorder and/or smart meters?

Stats are better and a much more stable service (55/10).

DSL Link Up: Down Rate=54998kbps, Up Rate=9995kbps; SNR Margin Down=15.1dB, Up=16.1dB

Thanks again.
