Do BT ever get it right?

[link to this post]

I am just wondering if anyone has ever had any positive experience with BT Retail when it comes to billing/contracts/deals/migrations?

They seem to always get something wrong or screw something up. Their latest is quoting me £88/mo for a broadband/phone/mobile package but when it has come to bill time it is almost £10 higher than quoted.

No sarcasm intended but why do they always mess things up? I always get the impression when speaking to them that their billing/accounts system is split into many pieces and hard to use, surely it can't be that difficult even for a company the size of BT. God help customers who choose to migrate to EE as part of package deals as I can forsee lost mobile phone numbers and all sorts.

Been a BT customer for a very long time and I may just be lucky but I but have never experienced a billing issue other than on one occasion a long time ago when I was erroneously charged for a number of operator-connected calls which were not made from my line. A quick phone call resolved that and the next bill was credited.

I have in teh past coupleof years some rather high charges added to a business account. For example: early termination of FTTC when migrating to FTTP, technician visits to repair a damaged/failed drop wire and some others.

ON gathering the basic evidence together, a quick call to BT billing was all it took. On one occasion they went back and listened to a recording of a call, and were totally satisfied. If I caught them early enough, that bill was creditted before the DD taken. On the last one, they debitted over £600 incorrectly - it wasa complex situation. So I just said, issue a credit and we will work through the £600 over the next few months.

This sounds similiar to the type of things I have experienced.

As this one was verbal that is also going to have to be my next action - the person I spoke to clearly said "around £88 a month". He did not say "around £98 a month".

It's just a bit frustrating because my time is worth more than the saving by having to chase them on it, but at same time don't want them getting away with it as it encourages them to continue these antics the more that customers accept it.

I just cancelled my order and lodged a complaint. I was happy with the £66.99 for their 500mb offering and TV package. Specifically asked about in contract prices rises and was told absolutely no price rises, read the T&Cs when they come through and it clearly says it! Plus he put on the setup fee which he never mentioned on the call either.

Think I will just stick with Zen from now on, at least they are upfront about any charges etc.
